Week 3 is a small project

I say small project, but I am  a little worried this one will get away from me. I am writing this two weeks before I need to start working on it officially, because I have a lot going on and I need to hunt for supplies.

This was suggested by my friend Rachel. And I love the look of it. Rustic, simple, natural. But I am going to have to go hunting for the right twigs.

The results will be posted at the end of the week.

Week two, an imcomplete mermaid

This week. Sigh. This week. I traveled to Seattle to be with my family for a very intense couple of days. I thought I would be able to do some stitching while waiting at the hospital. That did not work. There was just way too much stress. And then I came home and got sick.

But I did get some work done on the mermaid stitching. I did a satin stitch for her hair.
I didn't like any of the blue greens I had separately. I didn't think that they were very under-watery. So I took two and separated out each strand, then put them back together. I much prefer the look of the two together. Additionally I like the weight that the twelve strands add to the body of the mermaid.

This will be a project that I will keep working on and keep you posted on. Just so you know... this is what happens. My life is chaotic. I work three jobs, have three kids and other people that rely on me. Crafting is my sanity.

Week Two will bring a portable project.

This weeks project has a requirement. I am out of town a chunk of the week. Away on personal business. So I need something that can go with me and be worked on while I wait.

I settled on an embroidery pattern. I will stitch while I wait.
Here is what I settled on.

I can gift it to my daughter who is very into mermaids right now. And it is really darling.

Project One

I can't say I am particularly proud of how this turned out. I spent some time looking for an inexpensive pillow case that would match my kitchen. Obviously I had no luck.

This week was very busy with the painting, and my getting ready for a pretty intense trip tomorrow. I am glad that I picked a project that was useful and easy.

So here is the quick and easy (and slightly ugly) version of the embroidery hoop laundry basket. Good new is that it works and that I can always redo it when I find the right pillow case to match.

Necessity is the mother of this choice.

The project that I will be taking on as my first is one that I never planned on doing. I have seen it many times and though... great idea, but not for me. Maybe for the kids if they go away to college...

(Please note now, I love ellipses. LOVE THEM!)

We are painting the living room this week. This is not a project about that. This is more about what happens when you are painting and the rest of the house hold stuff gets away from you.
In this case, laundry. There is a pile of kitchen towels sitting in the garage (where my laundry is) waiting. On the floor. It's gross.

After I finish this weeks project... no more. Here is the link to the embroidery hoop laundry bag. I will be keeping mine simple and not embellishing it. I really don't see the point if it is out in the garage. If I move it to the kitchen, I will make it lovely though.

Why is she doing this?

It is the start of a new year. I am not a fan of resolutions. But I am a fan of intentions. And I live and breath new projects. Every few months I decide that I am doing a big long 365 sort o project.

This year is no different. This year I am intending to make a Pinterest project a week. I will be posting the link to the project at the first of the week. The finished project at the end. If a project ends up taking too long... I think there will be filler projects. I want to number them, so project one will be week one, that sort of thing.

I welcome suggestions, just put them in the comments.

Let's see what happens.
